Why we exist

Sent by Jesus

Life without surrender to Jesus is a hard and empty road. It promises control and leaves people worn out, afraid, and alone. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” (Proverbs 14:12). What we need is Jesus Himself, a new heart, and a people who will walk with us in the truth (Ezekiel 36:26; John 14:6; Hebrews 10:24-25).

That is why we exist: Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

We are building a community in the spirit of the first church - devoted to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers (Acts 2:42). Side by side we make disciples, share life, and learn to obey Jesus together.

Who God is

Yahweh, the one and only living God

There is a God. His name is Yahweh. He is not an idea we built. He is the living One - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - and He has made Himself known.

Everything we see depends on something else. There must be One who simply is - the source of life, unchanging, alive, personal, and one (Exodus 3:14-15; Acts 17:24-25; Deuteronomy 6:4).

God is love, so He is not alone in Himself: one being in three persons (1 John 4:8; Matthew 28:19). He does not change. We are made to change into the likeness of His Son (Malachi 3:6; Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18).

And Jesus is not a dead founder. He was crucified, buried, and raised - alive forevermore (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Revelation 1:18).

The good news

Why only God could save us

We fell. We could not climb out. Sin's weight is measured by the One we sinned against. Only Jesus - true God and true man - could bear our sin, shed His blood for us, and bring us home (Isaiah 53:5-6; 1 Peter 2:24; Hebrews 9:22).

And He does not wait for us to find our way back. Christ is the faithful Shepherd. He goes after the one that is lost until He finds it, and when He finds it He lays it on His shoulders, rejoicing (Luke 15:4-5). “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11).

The fall

God made us in His image for life with Him (Genesis 1:26-27). In the garden the evil one tempted us. He lied and said we would become like God, though we already bore God's image and were made to walk with Him (Genesis 3:1-5). God had given us real freedom - and when the temptation came, we chose to disobey Him (Genesis 3:6; Deuteronomy 30:19). Sin entered the world. Death, shame, and distance from God became our story (Romans 5:12).

The flesh

The trouble is not only outside us. It is inside us. The flesh pulls us toward self instead of God. “For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh” (Galatians 5:17). “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot” (Romans 8:7). We cannot fix a bent heart by trying harder. We need the Spirit to make us new. “Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). “He saved us… according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5).

The weight of sin

The weight of a wrong rises with the worth of the one offended. Insult a stranger - one weight. Insult your father - heavier. Insult the president - far heavier. The act can look the same. The person offended is not.

Every sin is finally against God. “Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight” (Psalm 51:4). God is infinite. His honor has no ceiling. When we sin against Him, the debt is beyond us. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

God is just and merciful

God does not pretend sin is nothing. He is holy. He is also full of mercy. He stays true to Himself. “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty” (Exodus 34:6-7). “If we are faithless, he remains faithful - for he cannot deny himself” (2 Timothy 2:13). So He made a way where justice and mercy meet - not in our effort, but in His Son. “Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other” (Psalm 85:10).

Only Jesus could pay it

We owed the debt, so a man had to stand in our place. No mere sinner could carry what sin against God costs. So the Father sent the Son. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Jesus is true man and true God - able to represent us, able to save us. “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all” (1 Timothy 2:5-6). Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22).

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Cross, empty tomb, Spirit

Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). After He rose, He showed Himself alive to His apostles, and to more than five hundred brothers at one time (1 Corinthians 15:5-7; Acts 1:3). Then He ascended to the Father and poured out the promised Holy Spirit (Acts 1:9; Acts 2:33). By His blood we are forgiven and brought near (Ephesians 1:7; 2:13; Hebrews 9:22). The cross answers the debt. The resurrection breaks the power of death. The Spirit comes to live in us - to open our eyes, soften our hearts, and lead us in the truth.

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

The kingdom way

From zero to one

Heaven does not count the way the world counts. Jesus turns the order upside down - and then He walks that path Himself.

The Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). Then the Spirit of the Most High overshadowed Mary, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (Luke 1:35; John 1:14). Truly God, He did not cling to rank. He emptied Himself, took the form of a servant, and became obedient to the Father - even to death on a cross (Philippians 2:6-8). The Most High lowered Himself to serve.

That is not weakness. That is the heart of heaven.

Known before we could stand

God is not far from flesh and blood. “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). Before we could choose Him, He already knew us. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you” (Jeremiah 1:5). The same God who formed us in secret is the God who came near in Christ.

Heaven’s inversion

Jesus keeps showing us that the kingdom runs opposite the world’s scoreboard.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:3, 5). “Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:4). “The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:11-12). “Many who are first will be last, and the last first” (Matthew 19:30; 20:16).

Mary sang it before Bethlehem’s dust settled: God “has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate” (Luke 1:52). Paul said it plain: God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; He chose what is low and despised - even things that are not - to bring to nothing things that are (1 Corinthians 1:27-28).

And Jesus did not only teach this. He lived it. “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).

Stop counting the world’s way

The world counts from the outside - status, noise, money, image, control. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2). It crowns the strong and overlooks the lowly. Jesus invites us to stop that counting. “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).

In Him we learn a different measure: humility over pride, service over self, trust over fear, love over display. The one who looks least on earth may be great in heaven. The one who grasps the most on earth may stand last before God.

Zero to one

Zero means off. One means on.

God does not change. We do. The whole movement of this life in Christ is our change - our turning - until what is off becomes on, and our lives line up with the unchanging God in all we do (2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 12:2).

Apart from Christ we were zeros - not nothing in worth to God, but empty of life in ourselves. “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1). Dead is off. No power of our own could turn the light on.

Then God, rich in mercy, made us alive together with Christ (Ephesians 2:4-5). That is the move from zero to one - from off to on - by grace, through the Spirit, in Jesus.

One with Christ: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Galatians 2:20). One with each other and with His people: Jesus prayed “that they may all be one… I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one” (John 17:21-23). One under heaven’s rule on earth: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

This is Zero to One Ministries. Not climbing the world’s ladder. Coming under the Shepherd who lowered Himself, until His life is on in us - and through us - together.

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant.”

Our identity in Christ

The Bridegroom and His bride

Zero to one is not only a change of habits. It is a change of belonging. By the blood of Jesus we are brought near, and by His Spirit we are being formed as the bride of Christ - learning to depend on Him for everything, and to live for the joy of the One who loved us first.

Christ is the Bridegroom

Jesus is not only Teacher and King. He is the Bridegroom. John said, “The one who has the bride is the bridegroom” (John 3:29). Jesus called Himself the bridegroom while He walked among us (Matthew 9:15).

From the beginning God spoke this way to His people: “For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is his name” (Isaiah 54:5). “As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you” (Isaiah 62:5).

The church is His bride

Paul says the mystery of marriage points beyond itself: “This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church” (Ephesians 5:32).

Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25). We are not cleaned by trying harder, and we are not cleaned by words alone. We are cleansed by His blood - “the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses” (Ephesians 1:7). “The blood of Christ… [will] purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Hebrews 9:14).

Having bought her with His blood, He also keeps sanctifying His bride by the Word - washing her life with truth so she grows holy (Ephesians 5:26-27; John 17:17). The blood cleanses. The Word forms. The Spirit seals (Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30). So He might present the church to Himself in splendor, holy and without blemish - not by her merit, but by His finished work.

We were betrothed to one Husband, to be presented as a pure bride to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2). The story ends in a wedding: “The marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7). The holy city comes “prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” (Revelation 21:2).

Like a bride, we depend on Him

A faithful bride does not pretend she is her own source. She looks to her husband for covering, protection, provision, and care. In the same way, the church learns to lean on Christ for everything.

He is our safety when we are afraid. He is our bread when we are empty. He is our wisdom when we do not know the way. He is our righteousness when we cannot make ourselves clean - for only His blood takes away sin (1 John 1:7; Revelation 1:5). “I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

This is not weakness. This is covenant love. The Bridegroom gave His life and shed His blood for His bride. The bride rests her life in Him.

His joy is our aim

A loving husband delights when his bride walks in what pleases him - not from fear, but from love. So it is with Christ. He rejoices over His people. We want our lives to bring joy to the Bridegroom.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Obedience is not how we earn the wedding clothes. It is how a cleansed bride answers love. Scripture says it was granted to her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure - “for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints” (Revelation 19:8). Grace first. Then a life that fits the grace we have received.

Zero to one means becoming His bride

Zero is life on our own - self-fed, self-led, self-protected, still under sin. One is life joined to Christ - washed in His blood, filled with His Spirit, learning His heart.

From zero to one is the long walk of becoming the bride of Christ: leaving other lovers, trusting His care, receiving His Word, and doing what delights Him in ordinary days - until the marriage supper of the Lamb.

“Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7).

“To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood… to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

How we respond

The path of surrender

Grace opens the door. Then Jesus leads us step by step into a surrendered life with Him and His people.

Come empty

Jesus says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3). We stop pretending we can save ourselves. We bring need, honesty, and open hands.

Turn inward to Jesus

The world keeps pointing us outward: climb higher, own more, get seen, stay ahead. The way to Jesus goes inward, to the heart. “The Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24).

Seek Him first

Before bills, brand, fear, or future plans, we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Order matters. When God is first, everything else finds its place. “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

Remember who you are and what is yours

In Christ you are a child of God (1 John 3:1; Romans 8:16). If children, then heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17), sealed by the Spirit for an inheritance kept in heaven (Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Peter 1:4). The evil one still lies about that. He tells sons and daughters they are not children, not heirs, not kept. We answer with the truth of Scripture until the lie loses its power (Ephesians 1:18; John 8:44; John 17:17).

Walk it with people

Jesus did not save us to walk alone. We grow as a body, side by side, “encouraging one another” (Hebrews 10:24-25). A changed life needs a faithful community.

While we wait

Wheat among the weeds

Jesus said the kingdom is like a field where good seed and weeds grow side by side until the harvest (Matthew 13:24-30). The field is the world. The good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one. The harvest is the end of the age (Matthew 13:37-39).

Until that day, we live in mixed ground. Evil is real and near. That should not shock us, and it should not turn us into weeds to survive. When we follow Christ and live by the ways of His kingdom, roots go deeper. We stand strong in a broken field because the Son of Man owns the harvest. “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10). “The one who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13).

“Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.”

Church

A life-changing path, walked together

Zero to One Ministries is a church family learning obedience in real life: homes, work, pain, joy, and ordinary days.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). That simple pattern still forms strong believers.

Gather

Worship and Bible teaching that call us to surrender, trust, and follow Jesus (Hebrews 10:24-25; Colossians 3:16).

Grow

Small groups and discipleship where we confess struggle, pray, and practice the Word together (James 5:16; Acts 2:42).

Care

We carry one another's burdens and serve the hurting around us (Galatians 6:2).

Go

We invite neighbors into the same grace that found us, with no pressure to fake a perfect life (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 5:20).

What we believe

We worship the living God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, crucified and risen - not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). His blood cleanses us from sin (1 John 1:7). His Spirit seals and leads us (Ephesians 1:13; Romans 8:14). The church is a family on mission, not a performance (Ephesians 4:15-16).

How we live

We seek first the kingdom. We keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). We remember our identity and inheritance. We endure as wheat among weeds until the harvest.

“The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come.’” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price (Revelation 22:17).
